Does Hawaii honor any out-of-state permit?
No. Hawaii is a zero-reciprocity state — no resident or non-resident permit from any other state is recognized. The only lawful concealed carry in Hawaii is with a Hawaii-issued permit, which non-residents can now pursue through the HRA-membership pathway opened by recent federal rulings.
Visiting Hawaii with a firearm
Register within 5 days
Bring a personal handgun to Hawaii for lawful purposes, but register it with the county police within 5 days of arrival.
No concealed carry without a Hawaii permit
An out-of-state permit gives you nothing in Hawaii. Transport unloaded and locked between lawful locations only.
